Death Valley National Park Shopping

Situated in the heart of Death Valley National Park, the Stovepipe Wells Hotel offers two places to shop. The Nugget Gift Shop is located next to the hotel guest registration area and features a wide variety of souvenirs for tourists. Books on geology, natural history and the history of the West, as well as regional cookbooks are sold. Educational kits, toys and books are available for children. The Gift Shop touts the fact that most items sold there are American made. Certainly American made are the Native American crafts, including jewelry, pottery, art and weavings, made by local tribes or tribes with a long connection to Death Valley, that are sold.

A similar selection of wares is available across the highway at the General Store. The General Store, however, also sells toiletries, groceries and picnic items. There is a soda fountain and a gas station.

There are several shopping alternatives at Furnace Creek Resort, located within Death Valley National Park. Upscale apparel and jewelry with a Southwestern flair can be found at the Gift Shop at the Furnace Creek Inn, the smaller, and pricier, of the Resort's two lodging facilities. A mile away at the Furnace Creek Ranch, the Fred Harvey Trading Company store sells shirts, hats and gifts. These are also available, along with other souvenirs, Native American art, groceries and wine, at the Ranch General Store. Maps, books and videos about Death Valley and the Southwest are sold. Items made in California and Nevada are featured.

At the Golf Pro Shop on the Ranch, golfers can buy apparel and golf items at the world's lowest below sea level golf course. Although admission to the Borax Museum, also on Ranch property, is free, gift and educational items are sold in the building, the oldest in Death Valley.

Scotty's Castle is a villa owned by the National Park Service in northern Death Valley. Tours are given and gift items and souvenirs are sold. A self-guided tour book is also available.

Panamint Springs Resort is located near the western edge of the Death Valley National Park. The resort has a General Store that sells camping supplies, clothing, souvenirs, books and maps. It also sells some food items and ice. Ice cream cones and milkshakes are available. Gas is also sold.
